Last year our CME group launched our first ever Year in Review live CME symposium, designed to provide clinicians with a practical and efficient overview of that year’s most important new data sets and conference presentations in seven different tumor types. Based on the overwhelming success of that meeting, we once again hosted a live Year in Review: A Daylong CME Symposium Focused on Key Clinical Presentations and Papers in Oncology — 2008-2009 on Saturday, October 17, 2009 in Naples, Florida.

The live Year in Review was held in partnership with Florida Cancer Specialists, a large practice group based on the west coast of Florida. We recruited an exceptional faculty with expertise in breast cancer, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, multiple myeloma, acute leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, non-Hodgkin lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

The meeting program was divided into distinct tumor-specific modules. All of the modules featured didactic presentations by clinical investigators with expertise in the specified tumor types, who reviewed the most important new data sets and conference presentations and discussed relevant cases from their own practices. We designed the program in this manner to provide participants with the opportunity to learn about important recent advances and their incorporation into current algorithms. We believe that this dynamic, practical and efficient review of key recent presentations in medical oncology will help prepare participants to provide optimal patient care.
