TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is intended for medical oncologists, hematologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of hepatobiliary cancers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Consider age, performance status, degree of liver function and other clinical and logistical factors in the selection of first- and later-line therapy for unresectable or metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
• Appreciate Phase III data leading to the FDA approval of novel first-line treatment strategies for unresectable or metastatic HCC, and discuss their optimal integration into clinical care.
• Evaluate the rationale for and available and emerging data with the use of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies in combination with anti-CTLA-4 antibodies for HCC to determine the current and potential role of these novel regimens.
• Establish an evidence-based approach to the selection and sequencing of available therapeutic options for progressive HCC.
• Discuss the biologic justification for the evaluation of immune checkpoint inhibitors for advanced biliary tract cancers and review available and emerging data with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibody-based treatment approaches.
• Recognize the molecular heterogeneity of biliary tract cancers, and appreciate the biologic rationale for efforts to exploit documented abnormalities in patients with these diseases.
• Assess key data sets supporting the FDA approvals of fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) inhibitors for previously treated, unresectable locally advanced or metastatic cholangiocarcinoma with an FGFR2 fusion or other rearrangement, and consider how these agents can be appropriately and safely integrated into clinical management algorithms.
• Develop an understanding of available clinical trial findings with isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) inhibitors for patients with advanced cholangiocarcinoma and an IDH1 mutation, and identify individuals for whom treatment with this novel strategy is warranted.
• Develop an understanding of the side effects and toxicities associated with targeted agents and immunotherapeutic approaches used in the management of advanced HCC and other biliary tract cancers, and intervene with early and effective responses to various adverse events.
• Recall available and emerging data with investigational agents and strategies currently in clinical testing for hepatobiliary cancers, and refer eligible patients for trial participation.
